Our First Sitecore Hackathon: A Change Monitoring Module
On March 2, 2019, SaM Solutions’ team took part in an international online Sitecore Hackathon. Dedicated to and organized with the support of Sitecore, the event has brought together 97 teams of experts from 25 countries.
Organizers suggested a number of topics, and participants were tasked to develop a solution, make a video presentation, record it and upload the code to GitHub within 24 hours.
Our “Brave Sitecorians” — Raman Khalupau, Vadzim Papko and Andrei Shynkarenka — have built a content change monitoring module that keeps developers and content authors up to date on any changes in Content Editor. The solution provides the real-time tracking of content changes and creates commits every time a change takes place. Integrable in Sitecore platform, the solution allows for data extracting as a Sitecore package.
The tracking and downloading of changed items usually require much effort as Sitecore Content Editor does not provide this capability. The module enables easy tracking of the changed content and its downloading as a single Sitecore package for further deployment in other environments. It allows content authors and QA specialists to stay informed about changes and easily find them.
The winning team will be announced at SUGCON Europe 2019 — Sitecore User Group Conference that is to be held on April 4–5, 2019. Vadzim Papko will represent our team at the event to take part in the award ceremony and to learn about and share the recent developments and practices.
Our team has been developing Sitecore-based solutions for more than 10 years, and now we have 20 projects under the belt. In our projects, we use the most efficient technologies, tools and frameworks so that our customers can enjoy robust solutions and streamlined workflows.
