Technology Migration of Insurance Applications
Technologies: Visual Basic, C#, .Net, MS FxCop, Jira, Microsoft SQL Server, Windows XP, WinCVS.
Solution: Client-Server, Desktop
Industry: Insurance

SaM Solutions was tasked to migrate from Visual Basic to C# over 1 million lines-of-code within eight software applications for the insurance industry (social insurance, insurance against accidents, etc.).

The goal of the project was to ensure a unified and fastest possible migration of the source code of the applications (each of them represents a separate software solution) from Visual Basic 6.0 to C# 2.0. To make this possible, General and Product-Specific Migration Rules were elaborated at the beginning of the project in cooperation with the customer.

The acceptance criteria required also that the functionality, user interface and performance of the resulting applications remain unchanged after the migration.
