Requirements Engineering as a Crucial Factor for Successful Project Implementation
Requirements Engineering, as a process of defining requirements to the developed software, is crucially important, as requirements management is the first step and the basis for successful implementation of the whole development project. On the 17th of November 2009 the „Req Labs 2009“ international conference dedicated to the discussion of the requirements engineering subject was held in Moscow. Specifically the event dealt with the requirements work in IT projects and targeted at business analysts, project managers, system analysts, managers of development and testing groups as well as other experts of the Software Engineering branch. The conference was organized for its members to gain the information on the methods, know-how, success and risks in this business area.
Taking into account the company’s successful sixteen-year business history in the international market, SaM Solutions has gained large working experience in the Requirements Engineering area and was represented at the conference by a report on “Risks management in the area of requirements engineering” by Andrei Klishevich, Project Manager and Business Analyst of the SaM Solutions company. He finished his presentation with the conclusion that there is not a single universal solution for all the projects. When working with every single customer, the risk management process needs to be adopted to and corrected in compliance with the definite requirements specifics of a project. The gained project experience plays not the last role in the process of requirements engineering. Therefore the companies should pay attention to such experience and references. Further on in the report the typical risks emerging in the process of requirements engineering in IT projects were revealed and the strategies for their complete avoidance or minimization defined. It was also mentioned, that the experience of the company’s business analysts also plays a crucial role in this case.
